Crap Loanees as pro-wrestlers #6
Alan Wright to Censor:
Sorry, Alan, but if you couldn't hold down a regular place in the Leeds team that went down in 06/07, then you must have been a crap loanee!
His only appearance for Leeds was in a 4-0 home defeat to Stoke.

Bowyer vs Leicester
Another great, but often forgotten goal, that sums up some of the qualities of Lee Bowyer.
Scored on Boxing Day, provided by Michael Bridges.

LUFC Panto
Yep... this actually happened!
In 1974, just after the Brian Clough debacle, new manager Jimmy Armfield decided to get the players to do a pantomime; half the money going to charity, and half to a testimonial fund...
Anyway, I won't try and explain it all here, as the site on which I found the picture, mightyleeds.co.uk, does a far better job of it than I can be bothered to do!

Mistletoe and Wine: LUFC style
... I hope whoever made this is thoroughly ashamed of themselves!
If it cost more than a penny, then it was a complete waste of money.
If you manage to last all the way to the end, first of all I don't know whether to be ashamed or proud of you, but also, you get to listen to uncle Ken!

Johanneson Article
From Charles Buchan's Football Monthly.
(OK, I'll admit that mention of 'snow' is a bit of a tenuous Christmas link. Tomorrow's will be more festive!)

12 Days of Christmas, Leeds United Style!
Just a quick note to let my (ahem) loyal readership know that, tomorrow being the 13/12 leaves just 12 days til Christmas!
For this period, all of my daily posts will be Christmas related!
For those of you that can't wait until then...
Here's a moment that made us think all our Christmases had come at once!
...And I was there!
Come on Billy!

How to defend a corner:
Another post inspired by the time of year.
We visited MK Dons for the first time in December 2008, on the back of an horrendous run of form, including a humiliating FA Cup Exit at the hands of Non-League Histon. Things didn't improve here, with a comprehensive 3-1 defeat.
This game fairly neatly summed up Gary McAllister's reign as manager. A defence that looked like conceding every time a cross came into the box; a spell of decent football; a fairly impressive goal; and, ultimately, a result that just wasn't good enough.
I was miserable as I left the ground. Gary Mac was sacked the next day.
The reason for this (fairly depressing) post?! I found the above photo online the other day, and quite liked it!

McPhail Celebration
I remember this being round about this time of year, hence posting it today.
I also noticed that one of the facebook groups said it was McPhail's birthday today!
Memorable win at Chelsea; memorable celebration!

Bates of Ellandgard
You'll have to excuse me if I don't get this quite right, but it's a long time since I read LOTR, and I understand that lots of the Bates of Ellandgard sections aren't fully shown in the films.
Anyway, there once was a wizard called Bates, who ruled the realm of Ellandgard. Through clever deceptions, some people thought that he was a just and fair ruler, but it soon became apparent to most that he was actually pure evil.
Bates' army resisted attempts to overthrow him for many months, but finally succumbed after a long battle for Ellandgard.
Even after defeat, though, he wouldn't bugger off. He remained in the realm of Ellandgard, at the top of his tower, still somehow managing to stick his oar in even after he had been stripped of his real power.

Orange kit!
Made me think of swapping a white ball for an orange one in the snow! Think I remember reading that this kit was only worn once... because we lost in it! It made its one and only outing in the 1970-71 season.
