What a waste of money...

I'll let you in on a little secret: as a 10 year old, I wasn't mightily impressed with the arrival of Anthony Yeboah.

We had Phil Masinga, who was in a great run of form; what did we need to go and sign another striker for?

And then, in making his debut, not only did he replace Masinga (who had scored TWICE!) but he also proceeded to do this:

That was Yeboah's first touch for Leeds.

The QPR fans chanted 'What a waste of money', and I felt justified in my indignation at the withdrawal of Masinga.

Crap Loanees as Pro Wrestlers #14

Nation of Domi-nation:

Nation of domination wwe wwf leeds loanees

Didier Domi; one of Peter Reid's numerous loan signings in the 03-04 season.

If I remember rightly, he did put in some reasonable performances that season. Overall, though, his season was pretty much ruined by injury.

He made just 9 league starts, of which we won 3.

His best moment for Leeds was probably providing the assist for the equalizing goal in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Again, 'crap' might be harsh on him... he's included because I like the pun.

Season Ticket

So following the 'my first match' hashtag on twitter, and the fact that tomorrow is the first game I'll be using my new season ticket for, I thought I'd post a pic of my first ever season ticket.

If I could give a warning to my 9 year old self, it would probably be that the very first match you'll use this ticket for pretty much sums up life as a Leeds fan. Moments of promise, apparent control, and ultimately disappointment (If that isn't to bleak a message for a 9 year old) Inspite of a 3-2 defeat to Chelsea, I was hooked.

Next message to 9 year old self... hold on through the crappy midwinter goal drought, hang in there til January... and then you'll get Yeboah!

If you fancy reliving that season, you can watch it here.

Leeds/Scotland XI

A starting line-up of players to represent Leeds and Scotland

We've had a fair few Scottish players over the years, so with tonights match in mind, here's a Leeds and Scotland XI.

That midfield is pretty tasty! And would be even better I'd remembered Joe Jordan at the time, and so could have swapped Gray to his rightful position on the left.

Other players that I forgot when I was making it, or that I just couldn't fit into the side are Arthur Graham, David Hopkin and Willie Bell.

And George Graham can be manager. Or Strachan could be, I s'pose!

EDIT: Question that I've just thought of: Would this team beat the England XI?
